This chapter is intended to introduce the basic skills that will be used throughout the course. Topics covered include evaluating expressions, using exponents, order of operations, checking solutions to equations and inequalities, using verbal and algebraic models to represent real-life situations, and using tables and graphs to organize data and represent functions.
